| Monika Blaschke ...the head as a palace for dreams, 2000 Video (VHS NTSC), 8 min, loop, color and sound, projection on boxes. Words from Moon Palace by Paul Auster. The work is about journey, the perception of environment, and expectations. How do we perceive places? How do we imagine places that we have never been to, places that we have never seen with our own eyes? Where do our images of these places derive from? Why do we want to travel to places? The video is a journey through two different places at one time-the subway in Vienna and Central Park in New York. On both layers (image and voice) there is nothing to hold onto but memories of images, words and stories seen or heard before.
